Diversity at Chapel End Junior Academy

At Chapel End Junior Academy, we believe that every child, every family, and every member of our school community matters.

We’re deeply committed to creating a school where everyone feels welcome, valued, and supported—regardless of background, identity, or personal circumstances. Inclusion and equality aren’t just policies for us—they’re part of who we are.

We promise to:

  • Challenge discrimination wherever we see it and actively promote equal opportunities in a safe, antiracist environment.
  • Support every pupil and staff member to thrive and reach their full potential.
  • Work closely with families and the wider community to promote fairness, celebrate diversity, and share best practices.

We know that a diverse school community brings strength, creativity, and richness to our learning environment. That’s why we’re proud to foster a culture where differences are respected and celebrated.

Our commitment to inclusion means that we welcome and support all pupils—whatever their race, religion or belief, political views, disability, SEN status, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation (LGBTQ+). Everyone deserves to feel safe, seen, and heard.

At Chapel End Junior Academy, we focus on the well-being and progress of every child. We believe in removing barriers to learning and development, and we’re always looking for ways to make sure every child can participate fully in school life.

We stand firmly against all forms of discrimination, bullying, and harassment. We’re here to champion equality and make sure our school is a place where every child can grow, learn, and succeed in a truly inclusive environment.

Education is a powerful tool for change—and we’re proud to be part of that journey with our children and families.

At Chapel End Junior Academy,  every part of school life—from our curriculum to our special events and assemblies—should reflect the rich diversity of our community and the values we stand for.

Our weekly assemblies are a space where we come together to learn, reflect, and celebrate. Through these sessions, we explore important themes that help our children grow into thoughtful, kind, and informed individuals.

Some of the topics we’ve covered include:

  • Body positivity – embracing and respecting all body types
  • Online safety and influencers – navigating the digital world with confidence and care
  • LGBT+ – understanding and celebrating different identities and relationships
  • Grief and loss – supporting one another through difficult times
  • Mental health – promoting emotional well-being and resilience
  • Identity – exploring what makes each of us unique
  • Religious holidays and celebrations – learning about and respecting different faiths and traditions
  • British Values – understanding democracy, respect, and individual liberty
  • Protected characteristics – recognising and respecting the rights of all
  • Sanctuary seekers and refugees – showing compassion and understanding for those seeking safety
  • Physical health – encouraging healthy habits and active lifestyles

These themes are woven into the fabric of our school life, helping us create a community where every child feels seen, heard, and valued.
